Terms of service

Last updated: 15 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of ReqRes: the website at reqres.in, the dashboard at app.reqres.in, the ReqRes APIs (including the free demo API, project APIs, the Agent Sandbox and the MCP server) and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Ben Howdle Limited (company number 08781098), 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom ("ReqRes", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you can bind that organisation to them.

1. The Service

ReqRes provides hosted APIs for testing, prototyping, teaching and building applications. The free demo API returns sample data that is not stored. Projects let you store your own data, manage app users and view request logs. We may change, add or remove features, and we'll give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce a paid plan you're on.

2. Accounts and keys

  • You need an account for most features. Give accurate details and keep your sign-in and API keys secure. You're responsible for activity under your account and keys.
  • Keep manage keys (pro_...) server-side. Public keys (pub_...) are read-only and designed to be used in browsers.
  • Projects created without an account (for example by an AI agent through the MCP server) are deleted after 72 hours unless someone claims them by signing in. Whoever claims a project becomes its owner.

3. Plans, free use and licences

  • Free plan and demo API: free for personal projects, learning, teaching and evaluating ReqRes, within the published limits.
  • Commercial use: individuals using ReqRes for their own commercial work can use the Lite plan or above. Organisations using ReqRes as part of their commercial development or testing (for example across a team or in shared CI) should use a paid plan or a team or company licence.
  • Limits: each plan has usage limits (such as requests per day, collections and records) shown on our pricing pages. We may throttle or reject requests above them.

4. Payment

Paid plans and licences are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through Stripe or by invoice. Prices exclude VAT and other taxes, which are added where applicable. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal. Commercial licences are also governed by the licence agreement.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

  • break the law, infringe others' rights, or store or send unlawful, harmful or deceptive content;
  • attack, probe, overload or disrupt the Service or others, for example with denial-of-service traffic, load tests at a volume beyond your plan, or attempts to bypass rate limits or authentication;
  • send spam, phishing or malware, or host content that impersonates someone else;
  • store special category personal data (such as health data), payment card data or credentials for other services in ReqRes;
  • resell or redistribute the Service, or build a competing hosted service from it, without a written agreement.

We may suspend or remove content, keys or accounts that break these rules or put the Service or other users at risk, with notice where reasonable.

6. Your content

You own the data you store in ReqRes. You give us permission to host, process and transmit it only to provide and secure the Service. You're responsible for your content and for having the right to store it, including personal data about your app's users, for which you are the controller (see our Privacy policy). Export your data before closing your account; we delete project data after account deletion.

7. Sponsored content

Some pages and free demo API responses include clearly labelled sponsored or promotional content. Project APIs do not.

8. Availability and support

We work hard to keep ReqRes fast and available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and there is no service level agreement unless one is agreed in writing. Don't rely on ReqRes as the only copy of important data.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Demo API and sandbox data is sample data and may change.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and £100.

If you use the Service as a consumer, you also have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

11. Ending use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, or end the free Service with reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as payment, liability and governing law) continue after termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email at least 14 days in advance. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may also bring claims in the courts of their home country.
